Rent a room that’s like a hotel suite, with your own full bathroom, walk-in closet, and private balcony. Also each room has a large study nook that doubles as a kitchenette, with plenty of outlets, a built-in countertop/desk, and a large window. Bring a small fridge, a microwave, a coffee maker, and a Brita filter, and you’ve got a kitchenette in your own nook, right in your bedroom suite! There’s also a large kitchen downstairs, with all appliances and a walk-in pantry, if you really like to cook. Although the house is a shared house (4 people now), the kitchen is almost always unused and is kept very clean. But this is an unusual house: this is like a “study house.” The people who sign a lease here are people who want peace and quiet. They are respectful of their housemates’ desire to live in a calm environment. They use headphones/ earbuds for music, the TV isn’t too loud, and if they leave at 6 am for work, they do it quietly. It will never flood. It’s just minutes to any Norfolk military base, a few blocks away from ODU, and halfway between Norfolk’s largest military base and EVMS medical center. Sorry, no pets, no incense, no smoking indoors. Living room and the dining area on first floor are furnished, for your enjoyment. Almost nobody uses them! Laundry room on second floor is for all housemates’ use. House has beautiful front and back porches and sits on a beautiful lot on the water. Gorgeous back yard, full of trees and flowers. Street ends at the water. Besides the laughter of neighborhood kids (and ODU’s stadium crowd on some Saturdays) all you hear, both day and night, are the breezes in the trees and the birds.
